Jobboard Finder’s opinion
Summary: NyTeknik (which means “New Technology”) is a well-known magazine in Sweden. It started back in the 60s before appearing online in 1996. In addition to their news feed, they have a humble specialized job board (to access the job section, you need to click on “job vacancies” at the top of the page on the right-hand side). Despite being a very popular website (with 1.57 million visits per month), their job social media has practically no Twitter followers (so there is no point in sharing job offers) and their Facebook outreach is not very impressive (29 527 followers). That said, they are a reference for news on technology with some big name companies (mostly Nordic) looking to hire on their job page.
Design: The job board is simple: a search engine in three parts (keywords, the profession and location with options to choose from) and a list of different profession categories (the number of vacancies are in brackets) and locations to click on. Below that, the hot offers is empty because no one has bought ad space there, the newest offers are mostly research positions and under them is a selection of companies (which are not necessarily hiring). The latest work related articles appear at the bottom of the page. The job title, the company logo and the location are visible before opening the offer. Each job offer includes information at the top of the page (employer, location, role, type of employment, publication date and end, the employment category) then a long description of the company, the job and the kind of background you need to have to apply. A short blurb about the company is also on the right-hand side and it includes the logo and a link to their website. Sometimes a telephone number or email address are also available.
The job board objective: NyTeknik aims to keep tech-lovers up to speed on all the latest tech news and developments, so that includes keeping them informed about the latest tech positions.
Recruiter observations: Recruiters can access the advert page through the advert sections, or by clicking on “recruiting” at the top of the page. However, you will need to email or call the appropriate person from AlmaTalent (a Finnish group) before you can advertise on their website. AlmaTalent heads a number of magazines, from tech news to law to business. For this reason, you can also advertise in their paper magazines.
Jobseeker observations: If you are a Swedish Engineer, you get free access to Ny Teknik Premium. You can also create a Summa account which will give you access to all the media covered by Alma Talent, but ultimately, you do not need to. To apply to jobs, you are usually redirected to the company website (or to Dfind often) or given an e-mail address.
The job offers: Since it’s a tech website, all the job are tech related (as indicated above the search engine). Product development, the automobile industry and the construction industry have the most vacancies at the moment (between 66 and 40).
Reactivity: They respond quickly and they include the cost, but surprisingly they do not say anything about company requirements to advertise on NyTeknik.
Special features: job alerts; news section; no account needed.
Verdict: It’s a bit laborious having to translate each page (since there is no English version) but the website is easy to use. The information is clear and you get a good idea of what the companies are like from the detailed descriptions.
