Jobboard Finder’s opinion
Summary: Ian Partington, the CEO and founder of the Simplyjobs job boards, and the group also owns a number of job boards, which don’t have Simply in the name, like this one. InAutomotive is a specialist job board for professionals in the car industry. The layout is quite similar to the other job boards and it has been around since 2009, but the current layout is far more recent (2014). The recruitment page has a very direct advertisement approach: “No really, we are the best”. You have to admire their directness. On social media, the site has a small group of followers: 1 294 on LinkedIn, 1 999 on Twitter and 2 419 on Facebook. About 107 220 visits are recorded on SimilarWeb every month (with 82% of those coming from the UK).
Design: The dominant colour is light blue and the homepage includes a backdrop image of a mechanic’s hands. The page is mostly made up of different groups of jobs: the recently viewed, the featured employers (all of which are hiring), recommended jobs and latest jobs. To access the job listing, you can use the groups or the search engine (keywords and the location). From there, you can use the filters (the location, the job category, the salary band, the job types, the company type, the sector, the aircraft type and the last updates – with the number of offers per category in brackets) to cull the job offers. Featured jobs appear on the right-hand side and similar jobs appear next to the open job offer with easy-to-use scroll buttons. There are expiry dates (indicated above the offer), which is always reassuring when unsure about how the offers are updated. You can sort the offers by their newness or their expiry dates.
The job board objective: InAutomotive targets a very specific industry in the hope of making it easier to find the right professionals.
Recruiter observations: You can also purchase a package online and just fill out some basic information about yourself and the company. Otherwise, you’ll have to contact the team for a demo.
Jobseeker observations: Jobseekers need an account to apply to job offers, but sometimes you’re directed to a different page.
The job offers: There are 4 892 job offers. Most of them are for servicing & repairs, sales and bodyshop and the salary range is between £25k and £40k.
Special features: The jobs of the week; the blog (including career advice and industry news); the survey; the business showcase schedule.
Verdict: InAutomotive is a great place to start when recruiting automobile professionals. Since the industry is so specific, it can be difficult to find the right hires so a niche job board is a safer bet than a generalist one.
