Craigslist jobs Presentation

Site's statement

Craigslist is a classified advertisements website with sections devoted to jobs, housing, personals, for sale, wanted items, services, community, gigs, résumés, and discussion forums. It has become one of the world’s most-visited websites with around 50 billion pages views per month.

It was started in 1995 San Francisco in the USA, but today is available in over 700 cities in over 70 countries. It was first created to let the community know about upcoming events in the local area but soon grew to include employers looking for employees. The website was launched in 1996 and included local events, jobs, and items for sale.

The site is adapted to each city, so you can only find things that are local to you. It automatically arrives on the site for the city nearest to your location when you search on Craigslist.org.

It is a classified ad site similar to Gumtree in the UK and Le Bon Coin in France.

Jobboard Finder’s opinion

Summary: Craigslist is one of the oldest job boards, best known for its classifieds. It is ranked 14th on the list of websites most visited in the United States, and 60th worldwide! There’s so much to see on Craigslist so it can take a bit of time to find what you need (and to be found if you post a job offer).

Design: A simple blue on white design reminiscent of the 2000s and all the information in a list form. Craigslist isn’t about to win any beauty contests, but it’s practical and easy to use.

The job board objective: Connecting locals with locals.

Recruiter observations: Easy to use, if you are looking to fill a job opening fast in your local community, Craigslist is the way to go! But don’t bother using it if you’re hiring outside of the States: Americans create 96.19% of the website activity!

Jobseeker observations: While you’re looking for a secondhand couch or local events, you might as well see if you can make some extra cash. The lack of structure gives the website a very user-friendly feel and makes applying to jobs less stressful.

The job offers: This particular job board is mostly for summer jobs, odd jobs, one-off jobs or positions that need to be filled quickly.

Reactivity: About a day.

Special features: the “best of” button for particularly memorable posts; the next button that makes browsing job offers feel like reading emails; the “share with a friend” button.

Verdict: Simple, convenient and friendly. If you have a small business in the United States or you are jobseeker who needs a job (any job), check out Craigslist.
