According to a study from the website Online-Recruitment.net, an estimated 96% of companies use job portals in the recruitment process. However, the HR Media Agency Aktor Interactive has tested more than 900 job boards worldwide for recruitment. So which job boards are right for your recruitment needs? How do Swiss recruiters get their bearings in that market?

Posting a job advert on a job board has many advantages: the easy-to-use interface and the immediate posting. Moreover, job boards have a large audience and a low diffusion loss making it a decisive choice for recruitment at a worldwide scale.

Aktor Interactive has identified more than 900 significant job boards around the world1, and half of them are focused on the European market. 33 main job boards have been inventoried in Switzerland and 55% of those are specialist job sites (engineering, science construction…).

International recruitment: why it’s essential in Switzerland

In Switzerland, international recruitment issues are getting more and more important. Early this year, there were more job offers on the market than qualified candidates.

According to the Research Department of Work and Social Politics (Büro für arbeits- und sozialpolitische Studien BASS), a shortage of 411 000 workers has been predicted from now to 2030. From what the Federal Office of Statistics says, in 2013 about 29% of the Swiss workers were not citizens of the country.
Indeed, Switzerland has many neighbouring countries, such as Germany, France, Italy and Austria, and foreign candidates can easily make their way over to the small country. To do so, Swiss recruiters have at their disposal 568 job boards, 67% of which are specialist job boards and 33% of which are generalist job boards. Consequently, choosing the right media is essential.

The Solution: an international job board encyclopedia

To find the right job boards, Aktor Interactive has launched the Jobboard Finder, an online encyclopedia fitted with a search engine and comparison tool. Job portals can create a profile for free and be listed in the encyclopedia.

Data, such as the traffic, the number of page views, the rates and the contact details of the websites are mandatory. This means that you are guarantied transparency. It enables the user to benchmark and compare different websites effortlessly. Another advantage is that recruiters can do multi-criteria researches in the database.

In Switzerland, more than a third of the job boards have already created a profile on the Jobboard Finder.
