Summary: Founded in 2004 by Oliver Sonnleithner, Klaus Hofbauer and Jürgen Smid, Karriere is the leading job board in Austria, attracting as many as 2.9 million views a month. On social media, it covers its basis and that has paid off. There are 9 264 followers on Instagram, 4 184 on Twitter, 505 on YouTube, 72 745 on Facebook and the group has a Xing page. As a generalist job board, a large variety of job offers are posted through the site, attracting a diverse mix of users (check out their statistics) and enabling Karriere to understand the Austrian market. The team share the knowledge on their blog, in their whitepapers and in their case studies. Many of the studies conducted by Karriere on the employment market are easy to find and free of charge.

Design: The homepage has varying funny backdrop images behind the search engine (keywords, location and radius). Below that, you can access the company pages through the featured industries, view videos of real success stories or visit the career advice on the blog. The job listing is clear and provides filters (sector, type of hours, level of experience, state, country) to refine your search. Logos and publication dates are visible in the listing, so you know when the information was updated. Once opened, job offers are customized to reflect the company brand. This is also the case for the company pages, which include photos, videos, a map, key figures, etc. When you’re just browsing the pages, you view them in a grid and you can see the number, a photo, the number of available jobs, the industry, keywords and the logo.

The job board objective: Karriere hopes to enlighten jobseekers and recruiters on the labour market to improve job searching and hiring.

Recruiter observations: To order a service online, you must select the product, fill out a form and send it off to the team. Some of the prices are online.

Jobseeker observations: Jobseekers can create an account with Facebook or an e-mail address. You don’t need an account to apply to job offers and the site also provides a prewritten cover letter.

The job offers: There are over 7 000 job offers on the job board.

Reactivity: The team is very helpful and they answer very quickly.

Special features: The hundreds of YouTube videos; the blog (with many categories); the tips (different to the blog, which includes a salary calculator); the great mosaic of team photos; the salary statistics; the salary calculator and comparator tool; the additional websites in the footer; following company options; the pop-up message about terms and conditions; the whitepapers; the funny homepage backdrops; the events; the Karriere profile button; the user statistics; the case studies.

Verdict: If you are recruiting in Austria, it would be a real shame not to check out Karriere, either for your recruitment campaign or for more information on the market. As a jobseeker, Karriere is the best place to go to find a large quantity of offers, salary information and clear company pages.
