Jobboard Finder’s opinion

Summary: Cofounded by Opeyemi Awoyemi, Olalekan Olude and Ayodeji Adewunmi in 2009, Jobberman is a Nigerian generalist job board, originally inspired by Naukri (in India). It has since made a name for itself and become a part of the ROAM (Riniger One Africa Media) in 2015. In turn, OAM has received many investments from SEEK, the leading Australian job board. The founders of Jobberman remain share-holders on the board to ensure the job board remains in good hands. You can see the influence of ROAM though: the job board design is exactly the same as BrighterMonday, which also belongs to the group. Today, the site attracts 128 670 visits a month and keeps its social media up to date for the 84 556 followers on LinkedIn, 15 000 on Instagram, 301 463 on Facebook and 59 100 on Twitter.

Design: The search engine (job function, industry, location) appears at the top of the page (slightly higher than it used to be) with top jobs just underneath. There are no logos but the information is clear. You can also access the job listing through the suggested job functions or choose your employer among the top employers at the bottom of the page. Once in the listing, filters are on the right-hand side (which you can also use when on company pages). The filters are job function, industry, location, work type and sorting (default or date). Some job offers are listed as “featured”. The publication date is visible in the listing. Logos are also visible for the offers, which have them. An open job offer has a job summary and job description (which usually includes requirements and responsibilities).

The job board objective: Jobberman wants to provide Nigerians with access to interesting job offers to improve African employment. If Africa were a gun, Nigeria would be the trigger, as they say.

Recruiter observations: It’s easy to create an account but a location phone number is required. You then can access the dashboard and the job post prices. You cannot view your job offers before posting.

Jobseeker observations: It’s easy to sign up, but a valid phone number is required, as well as some work experience, your nationality and your location in Africa. You must sign in to apply to job offers.

The job offers: There are 1 619 job offers on the site. Recruitment, NGO, banking and technology are the industries with the most job offers.

Reactivity: You can contact them on Facebook. They answer quickly.

Special features: The Best 100 Companies to Work For (interesting to compare it to the BrighterMondays report); the app; the user statistics (including gender, age, educational level, the device usage and more); the courses; the master courses; the CV services for jobseekers; the safe job hunting advice; the whitepapers (of which there is one on Millennials); the newsletter/job alerts; the blog (in different sections).

Verdict: Jobberman is a great website for anyone looking to hire or looking for work. The team responds quickly and offers useful information on the blog.
