Site's statement

Since its inception, RestoMontreal.ca has become the leading restaurant website in Quebec, viewed by 6.5 million unique visitors per year – locals, visitors and foodies alike who are looking for restaurant details, menus, photos and videos, promotions, reviews and more.

Jobboard Finder’s opinion

Summary: RestoJobs is a specialist job board for Quebec in the restaurant jobs. It was launched in 2004 and later, Mathieu Laveau, president of HotellerieJobs acquired the site, to expand the reach. In fact, in 2018 when the acquisition was made, the site name changed from Emplois.restomontreal.ca to RestoJobs. This acquisition was partially responsible for an increase in posting for HotellerieJobs. RestoJobs attracts a little under 10 000 unique visits a month, and it has some social media for 27 followers on LinkedIn, 5 on Twitter and 155 on Instagram (the low numbers could be accounted for by the name change). On Twitter, the activity stopped last year. It can be confusing to see the “About Us” section on the right-hand side but it is there! The site is available in English and French.

Design: From the moment you go onto the website, you are in the thick of things. The purple and white colours make for an inviting colour-scheme. The layout is slightly unusual (information which you would expect to find in the footer is on the side). You can already see the filters (location, keywords, categories, type of contract) on the left-hand side and the number of job offers down the bottom of the list.  In the listing, you can see publication date and logos. An open offer displays the start date, job type and category on the right-hand side, above the social media. The rest is the description. Employer pages are mostly a list of job offers, with a logo, address and map.

The job board objective: RestoJobs has developed the restaurant industry in Quebec and continues to do so!

Recruiter observations: The cost of a single job offer is clearly stated on the homepage. The service used to be free, but rates were introduced in June this year. To post internships is free and you can even browse the CV database (without contact information) for free.

Jobseeker observations: Jobseekers don’t need an account to apply to job offers. However, if you aren’t located in the right area, the site can prevent you from applying. Furthermore, you can add your profile to the database.

The job offers: There are 152 job offers on the site.

Reactivity: There is chat support (during office hours).

Special features: The job alerts; chat support; the news; the congratulations section (for new jobs or promotions); confidential offers; the app; the CV database access.

Verdict: RestoJobs might appear less popular than it is because it only recently changed its name. However, don’t be fooled. The site was already quite successful in its own right and it is set to expand thanks to the new ownership. A friendly job board, which is very easy to use.
