Happy first of February Jobboard Finder blog readers! The first month of 2018 has been a long one and it has set the tone for the HR and recruitment industries for the rest of the year. What with grouping together for a common goal, exploring more diverse hiring practices and pondering just how crucial Artificial Intelligence is going to be in the future to Human Resources, there’s already a lot to reflect on. So without further ado, here’s what’s new in the HR world in 2018.<\/p>\n

Corporations club together to explore healthcare options<\/h2>\n

Hard to ignore in HR news this week is the announcement that three corporate giants, Amazon, JP Morgan Chase and Berkshire Hathaway are teaming up to find another option regarding healthcare for their employees. The companies declared they would form an independent health care company for their employees in the United States. With nearly half of all Americans reporting that they are to some extend dissatisfied with the healthcare coverage provided by their employer, and fast-increasing medical costs, this move shows the pressure on businesses’ HR departments to step up for their employees.<\/p>\n

Diversity set to be recruitment’s biggest challenge of 2018<\/h2>\n

It has been voted the top trend that will shape the future of recruitment, and for good reason:\u00a0diversifying their workforces has become the number 1 thing for many companies to focus on this year. Hiring more diverse employees can be beneficial in a huge array of ways: wider representation of your customers, better public image and even a higher creativity in ideas as a more diverse range of ideas and voices are taken into consideration.<\/p>\n

Cryptocurrency for recruitment<\/h2>\n

In Asia a new cryptocurrency has been developed for the recruitment industry<\/a>. The currency, called HIRE, will run on\u00a0Recruiter.com, the international recruitment marketplace, and aims to add value to the recruitment process at multiple stages. It will be used to transfer recruiter placement fees in real time, as well as for purchasing job adverts and directing candidates towards these.<\/p>\n

Recruitment talent shortages<\/h2>\n

Some companies are seeing shortages in their candidate pools – through their own making. The number of job postings with extremely long and specific requirements and employers expecting perfect matches for these are increasing, and this is actually driving the most qualified talent away from such companies. Businesses are also making mistakes when it comes to onboarding new hires, and putting off new employees from staying with the company long-term.<\/p>\n

AI is still key in all of this<\/h2>\n

Alternative Intelligence’s role in HR will become even more prominent in 2018.\u00a0Making recruitment faster, easier and smarter, intelligent automated processes can be observed in every aspect of HR functioning, such as seeking out passive candidates in the recruitment stages, using an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and increasing the efficiency of everyday HR processes.<\/p>\n
