H<\/strong>ow to recruit in Ireland <\/strong>is definitely something we<\/em> wanted to know, so we decided to investigate.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Background<\/h2>\n

The country is located to the west<\/strong> of Great Britain, and south<\/strong> of Northern Ireland. It is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, Celtic Sea, Saint George’s Channel and the Irish Sea.<\/p>\n

Historically, Ireland\u2019s government structure as it stands today has been in its current form since 1949<\/strong> when it was officially declared a republic<\/strong> following emancipation from the UK. Despite its troubled past and political instability<\/strong>, Ireland is currently blooming.<\/p>\n

From the early 1990s until the recession<\/strong> in 2008, Ireland experienced a boom period of unpredented economic growth<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Ireland has a population of 4.76m<\/strong> and a\u00a0per capita GDP of $72,632.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

State of the job market<\/h2>\n

Ireland has grown in prominence<\/strong> in recent years to make it a very attractive place to recruit<\/strong>. The economy is doing well and unemployment has been steadily decreasing too.\u00a0Nearly\u00a020,000<\/strong> jobs<\/strong> were created in the first three months<\/strong>\u00a0of 2017.<\/span><\/p>\n

The unemployment<\/strong> rate is currently at 6%<\/strong>, which is considerably lower than in recent years (following the recession). This has been decreasing<\/strong> for years and is currently at its lowest rate in 9 years<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The largest industries in the country are pharmaceuticals<\/strong>, chemicals<\/strong> and computer<\/strong> hardware and software, with food and beverages also paying an important<\/strong> role in the Irish economy.<\/p>\n

The sectors recruiting the most are\u00a0accountancy & finance<\/strong>, digital marketing<\/strong> and various areas of technology<\/strong>. Dublin<\/strong> in particular is also experiencing an increase in start-ups and entrepreneurship, and has become a tech hub, benefitting especially from London’s post-Brexit business loss<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Visa\/ permits needed<\/h2>\n

Ireland is a part of the European Union<\/strong>, meaning residents from other member states have free movement<\/strong> access and can settle and work in the country with no need for a specific visa<\/strong>. Ireland is also a part of the European Economic Area<\/strong>, and uses the euro<\/strong> currency making the transition even easier.<\/p>\n

Restrictions<\/h2>\n

The average annual salary in Ireland is \u20ac45,075<\/strong>, while monthly minimum wage is \u20ac1563<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Employers are required to compensate staff for Sunday<\/strong> working and pay them more than their normal daily pay.<\/p>\n

The average<\/strong> Irish working week is 39 hours<\/strong>, while the legal maximum is 48 hours<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
