In this article, we will learn more about the country, and we will try to give you many key information about recruitment in Belgium, for both recruiters and job seekers.<\/p>\n<h2>The country<\/h2>\n<p>Belgium is a parliamentary monarchy and a federal state. It welcomes many European institutions such as the <strong>European Parliament<\/strong> in Brussels, and even global institutions like <strong>NATO<\/strong> (North Atlantic Trade Organization). The country is divided into<strong> three regions<\/strong>, and each one has its own particularities:<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"attachment-post-thumbnail aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jobboardfinder.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Gand-min.png\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jobboardfinder.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Gand-min.png 400w, https:\/\/www.jobboardfinder.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Gand-min-300x122.png 300w, https:\/\/www.jobboardfinder.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Gand-min-30x12.png 30w\" alt=\"Gand\" width=\"400\" height=\"162\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Region of <strong>Brussels<\/strong> (the capital), where many European Institutions have their head-offices.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Wallonia<\/strong>, a region both French-speaking and German-speaking.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Flanders<\/strong>, Dutch-speaking.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There are therefore <strong>three official languages<\/strong> in Belgium, and the differences created by the regions, the linguistic conflicts and the cultural wealth make this country very <strong>attractive<\/strong> for many foreigners. Even though it can be seen as a surprising destination, Belgians are known as <strong>warm<\/strong> and <strong>welcoming<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Its five main cities all have a rich <strong>cultural heritage<\/strong>, and this is what makes the country so <strong>attractive<\/strong> and one of the most renowned in Europe for its particular lifestyle. These five cities all welcome an important part of the Belgian <strong>population<\/strong>, and therefore the most<strong> jobs<\/strong>, as well as the <strong>money<\/strong> for local authority.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"attachment-post-thumbnail aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jobboardfinder.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Charleroi-min.png\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jobboardfinder.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Charleroi-min.png 400w, https:\/\/www.jobboardfinder.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Charleroi-min-300x193.png 300w, https:\/\/www.jobboardfinder.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Charleroi-min-30x19.png 30w\" alt=\"Charleroi\" width=\"400\" height=\"257\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Antwerp<\/strong>: the lovely Fleming city, which is an important <strong>port city<\/strong>, and renowned for its diamond selling.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Brussels<\/strong>: the capital as mentioned before, centre of many <strong>European organizations<\/strong>, multicultural city and very attractive.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Charleroi<\/strong>: known as the city of <strong>cartoon drawers<\/strong>, divided into two parts, historic centre and sales activities.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ghent<\/strong>: 1<sup>st<\/sup><strong> student city<\/strong> of Belgium, very dynamic, very lively city.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Liege<\/strong>: economic capital of the Walloon region, <strong>port city<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Recruiting sectors<\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<p>Every region has its own description of the current Belgian job market. Information such as description of a sector or activity, the current vacant positions or the companies currently looking for a particular workforce, are available on the regions\u2019 websites.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wallonia:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.leforem.be\/HE\/former\/horizonsemploi-index.html\">LE FOREM<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Brussels:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/imtb.actiris.be\/Pages\/Default.aspx\">actiris.brussels<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Flanders:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdab.be\/cobra\">VDAB<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"attachment-post-thumbnail aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jobboardfinder.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/brussels-min.png\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jobboardfinder.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/brussels-min.png 400w, https:\/\/www.jobboardfinder.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/brussels-min-300x150.png 300w, https:\/\/www.jobboardfinder.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/brussels-min-30x15.png 30w\" alt=\"Brussels\" width=\"400\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A list, given by the Forem, gives an overview of the labour market in Brussels and in Wallonia. \u00a0They are looking for workers in many different types of sectors. For instance, there is a need for<strong> nurses, childcare workers,<\/strong> but also in food service, with <strong>butchers, cooks or pastry chefs.<\/strong> You will also find jobs offers in the following sectors:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Construction (welders, fitters, electricians, construction equipment drivers)<\/li>\n<li>Renewable energies<\/li>\n<li>Bank and insurance (110 000 jobs, 13% in Wallonia.)<\/li>\n<li>Civil and industrial engineers<\/li>\n<li>Sales engineers<\/li>\n<li>Public sector<\/li>\n<li>Social assistants<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The minimum salary was around <strong>1 500 euros<\/strong> in January 2015. This, of course, varies between the different activities but this is more than France for example.<\/p>\n<h3>Current Employer<\/h3>\n<p>If you look for a job abroad or if you want to recruit abroad, you often look within your <strong>current company<\/strong>, especially if you work for an international company, or for a company that has offices in Belgium. You just need a certain <strong>experience<\/strong> and many <strong>qualifications<\/strong>. You can still find a job in the local newspapers, but know you are most likely to encounter a job offer on the Belgian job boards.<\/p>\n<h3>EU members<\/h3>\n<p>It is pretty easy for EU members to find a job in Belgium. You don\u2019t need a work permit, you just have to be <strong>registered<\/strong> by the authorities, and you will get a <strong>residence permit<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>Non-European workers<\/h3>\n<p>It will be more difficult for you to find a job and to get the different permits, because as in many other European countries, you must prove to the local authorities that you could not find a <strong>local worker<\/strong> to do the job you are offering. However, that does not mean that there are no foreign worker in Belgium.
