Jobboard Finder’s opinion

Summary: Owned by Christophe Leclercq, Euractiv publishes free, independent policy news and facilities open policy debates in 12 languages. It was founded in 1999 and continues to thrive across Europe. The job board connected to the site might be a generalist site, but it is clearly for those interested in international news and policies so there is still a target audience. In the words of Euractiv: “Our audience includes politicians, policymakers, business stakeholders, journalists, civil society, NGOs and other multipliers across Europe”. The site has a number of portals on Twitter and the main one has 125 000 followers. There is also a YouTube page (25 536 followers), a Facebook page (34 383) and on LinkedIn, there are different pages depending on the country. The main LinkedIn has 7 787 followers. The site is available in many languages but the job board isn’t. As for the visibility, it reaches 158 330 visits a month just for the jobs. Only 25% of those come from Belgium.

Design: The dominant colour is yellow. The main website has an attractive design, but the job board seems to have missed out on the makeover. The font is small and the homepage displays a list of job offers. Next to the offers, you can also see the job of the week, supporters, the Twitter feed, the news headlines and the agenda. The featured offers display a logo, deadline, company name, position and the city. The others only provide the deadline, position and company name. There is a search engine, which is also the only filter (keywords, category, location, experience). Even if some are featured, once opened, all the job offers follow the same standard layout and the length or content vary depending on the offer.

The job board objective: The jobsite for Euractiv aims to share relevant positions with those interested in politics, free press and global debates.

Recruiter observations: The prices are available online. A VAT number is required, as well as a billing address; otherwise, the process is quite simple.

Jobseeker observations: Jobseekers don’t need an account because application information is provided in the job offers. You can easily create an account if you want to though.

The job offers: There are between 100 and 200 job offers online. Most of the jobs are in Policy, Administration and Communication.

Reactivity: There a phone numbers and e-mail addresses for the entire team on the website.

Special features: The YouTube videos; the blog (in French, English, German and broken down into many sections); the “Economy & Jobs” section; the news; the supporters; the job of the week; the Twitter feed.

Verdict: Euractiv jobsite is surprisingly popular and the content is particularly interesting. If you’re interested in any of the topics tackled by Euractiv, you should definitely check out the job offers or consider posting through the site (if you’re a recruiter).
